FOODBANK
Foodbank is available for those in need of extra support with food. St John’s is open for foodbank clients to collect a food parcel on Mondays from 1 - 3pm (except for bank holidays).
Donations for Hinckley Area Foodbank can also be left inside the church foyer whenever the church is open.
*NEW way to donate to your local food bank*
Hinckley Foodbank supporters can now donate online by logging onto bankuet.co.uk/hinckley . Donors can 'buy' bundles of food at values of £10, £20, £50, or £100, all on a one-off donation, or on a monthly basis. This will be converted into specific food items requested by the food bank each week.
For those who cannot get out but are keen to continue donating food and have internet access, this is an ideal scheme. For those who can get out for shopping etc, Permanent collection points are still available at local super markets.
You can help us to help those in need by making a donation of cash. This will allow us to buy the goods that we need to supply families in need. You can do this by visiting the Hinckley Area Foodbank website and clicking on the bright red “DONATE” button at the top right of the home page. This takes you through to the form to make a donation. Or if you don’t have the internet, you can send a cheque (made out to Hinckley Area Foodbank) and send it to the Foodbank Office (Hope Community Church,Deveron Way, Hinckley LE10 0XD)
You can also donate at the supermarket when you visit for your essential supplies (Asda, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s and Tesco all have collection points, as have many of our Co-ops). And if you are visiting the supermarket, the key foods and other goods needed are such things as tinned meat and fish, UHT fruit juice and milk, cereals, tinned vegetables, pasta snacks, packet soup, tinned fruit, and disposable nappies (size 3 to 6). The complete list of urgent needs is on the website.
Hinckley Area Foodbank is run by a partnership of 9 Churches in the Hinckley District, all working together towards stopping hunger in our local area. Since starting, 26,247 people have been given a food parcel to last them for 3 days, that's a staggering 78,741 meals that have been provided.
St John's is open as a collection centre every Monday (except bank holidays) throughout the year from 1 pm to 3 pm.
