Being a disciple of Jesus was never intended to be an isolated or lonely journey. From very early in the history of the Church believers would gather together in small groups to support, challenge and encourage each other as well as to pray together.
At St John’s we continue to do this through:
Pods are the simplest gathering we do and can vary in size, from a minimum of 2 to a maximum of 8 people. They get together on a weekly basis at a time and place convenient to the members and are asked to spend an hour doing 3 things:
Journey Together to help us live lives as disciples of Jesus.
Reflect on the Bible and what the Holy Spirit has said to us through our reading of it.
To encourage us in the challenge of Being Disciples who Make Disciples through supporting us as we pray for and look for opportunities to share Jesus with others.
St John’s has always had a ‘family’ feel to it but as we grow it is harder to stay connected with people. Pods are a great way to get to know a small group of people but don’t give the opportunity to get to know a wider cross section of the Church family. Clusters are the opportunity to meet in a group of people which aims to keep that family size and feel and provide the opportunity to get to know more people in the Church. They are also the time when we will look at issues that affect the whole Church family.
Each Pod will be part of a Cluster and each Cluster will meet once a term.
If you would like to join a Pod then please contact Liz & James Piggott or Jo & Paul Bamberger.
