Small Groups

Small Groups at St John’s are groups of around 12 to 15 people who meet together each week to make new and deepen existing friendships, to explore issues of life together and how faith can have an impact for each of us.
Our Summer groups start the week beginning 13th May and most of them will meet for 8 weeks up to the end of this term.
Below you will find all the groups on offer this term, take a look at what is on offer and sign up for the one you would like to join.

Group: Mums Bible Study

Monday @ 10:30 am at Katie Worth’s

St John’s Contacts: Katie or Amy Berry

This group gathers mums with babies or young children from Churches across the area and gives the opportunity to chat, read the Bible and pray together. Babies and preschool children welcome.

Group: 20s & 30s

Monday or Wednesday at 8 pm

Led by Jon & Amy, Jenny & Rich

With a large group of 20’s – 30’s at St John’s, we are looking to gather regularly to help deepen our fellowship and discipleship together. This group will be an opportunity to grow in faith, fellowship and discipleship; to encourage and be encouraged.

We’re looking at the possibility of a Monday or Wednesday evening at 8 pm and will canvass the options with those who sign up.

Group:  The Bible Course

Tuesday @ 7:30 pm at Tim and Marie’s

Led by Tim Pullen

Accessible and interactive, The Bible Course will enhance and inform your ongoing Bible study, whether you are new to the Bible or want to go deeper. Using a unique storyline, the course shows how the key events, books and characters all fit together. You’ll get to see the BIG picture and discover how the Bible applies to your life.

Group: 1 Corinthians Bible Study

Tuesday @ 7:30 pm at Dmitry’s

Led by Dmitry

In this pastoral letter, Paul shows the Christians in Corinth that all of life’s most complex problems can be seen through the lens of the gospel. Over this term, we will look at some of Paul’s key teachings and how we can apply them to our lives and Church life today.

Group: Doing Church a Different Way

Thursday @ 7:30 pm at the Piggott’s

Led by James & Liz

As part of our call to be a Resourcing Church, we want to give an opportunity for those who are interested to explore different ways of gathering as Church. We are not going to be looking at Church Plants or Grafts, but recognise that lots of people do not find it easy to connect with Church as it exists in most places. Each week we will begin with eating together and then round the table give the opportunity to explore how Church community could exist in a different way.

Group: The Group that’s not a Group

Co-ordinated  by Tim Render

Many of us are involved in regular groups and activities outside Church - sports teams, choirs, evening classes etc where we have friends and contacts who we'd love to get to know Jesus.

The idea behind this group is to recognise that fact and to meet just occasionally (probably just 3 times over the term) to share experiences, look at a few ideas on how we might share faith in those contexts and pray for each other and those friends.
