On Saturday 15th November the back hall was buzzing with female conversation and laughter as 65 women from St. John’s, Hinckley Baptist, Hope and the URC joined together for breakfast followed by a time of worship, and reflections led by Jenny Jones and Eileen Jackson, from Bedworth Life Church.
The two ladies spoke movingly of grief, pains and disappointments, giving testimony to God’s loving and healing care in their lives over the years. Their ministry was both touching and inspiring as they led us to the scriptures and the promises of God which we know to be true – of his great power, faithfulness and love, which uphold and strengthen us through the dark and difficult times. Even when, and especially when things really don’t turn out as we had expected them to.
Jenny has written a book about her experiences and her closing words are:
“It is in the times of struggle that what we have known in theory is transformed into personal belief. Our knowledge of God ceases to be in our heads and moves down into our hearts – we know God can be trusted because he has proved it to us.
My hope is that what I have shared will be an encouragement to you as you face challenging situations in your own life. We don’t know what lies ahead but we do know we can trust God to walk each step with us and we are assured of the glorious future that awaits us when this earthly life ends. Truly, He is faithful!”
With this spiritual food, and our breakfast food of muffins, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, croissants, pastries and fresh fruit – we left, filled up and armed with scripture and the power of the Holy Spirit as well as the refreshment of friends and sisterhood, and the hope of more to come.
